politics
Statecraft and maneuvering
Politics is the activity of governing—acquiring power, making decisions for groups, and managing public affairs.
It encompasses elections, legislation, diplomacy, and the maneuvering within any organization: office politics, church politics.
The word often carries cynical connotations of self-interest and manipulation: It was pure politics.
Someone's politics are their political views: Her politics lean conservative.
