precincts

Police station territories

Precincts are bounded areas or districts.

In American elections, a precinct is the smallest voting unit—the neighborhood where you cast your ballot: Which precinct do you vote in?

Police precincts are jurisdictional zones and the stations within them.

In British usage, precincts often means the grounds surrounding a building: within the precincts of the cathedral.

The singular precinct shares all these meanings but appears less frequently.
