Public meeting place

A forum is a place for public discussion.

In ancient Rome, it was the central marketplace where citizens gathered to debate.

The word now applies to any setting where ideas are exchanged: a public forum, a forum on climate policy.

Online forums are websites where users post messages and reply to each other in threaded discussions.

A forum may also be a court or tribunal with jurisdiction over certain matters: the proper forum for this dispute.
