majority
More than half
Majority means the greater part or more than half of a total: The majority of voters supported the measure.
In elections, a majority is more than 50 percent, distinguished from a plurality (the largest share when no one reaches half).
Majority also marks the age of legal adulthood: She reached her majority at eighteen.
As an adjective, it modifies nouns to indicate dominance: majority opinion, majority rule.
