negation
Making something void
Negation is the act of denying or contradicting something, or the absence or opposite of something positive: His silence was a negation of everything we'd discussed.
In logic and grammar, negation reverses a statement's truth value—"is" becomes "is not," true becomes false.
A negation can also be something that nullifies or cancels out: The policy was a negation of their stated principles.
