elimination
Total weeding out
Elimination is the act of removing or getting rid of something.
In competitions, elimination means being knocked out—unable to continue: single-elimination tournament, process of elimination.
The word applies to bodily waste functions in medical or polite contexts: bowel elimination.
To work through possibilities by elimination is to rule them out one by one until only the answer remains.
