negations

Acts of denying

Negations are denials, contradictions, or statements that something is not the case.

In logic and grammar, negation reverses the truth value of a proposition—"is" becomes "is not." More broadly, a negation is the absence or opposite of something: His silence was a negation of everything we'd worked for.

The word often implies active rejection rather than mere absence.
