negating

Making something void

Negating is denying, nullifying, or making ineffective.

To negate a claim is to declare it false; to negate an advantage is to cancel it out.

In logic, negating a statement produces its opposite: negating "all swans are white" yields "not all swans are white." His later testimony negated everything he'd said before.
