monospace
Equal-character-width typeface
Monospace describes a typeface in which every character occupies the same horizontal width—an *i* takes as much space as an *m*.
This contrasts with proportional fonts, where narrow letters are narrower.
Monospace fonts like Courier are standard for code, terminals, and any context requiring precise character alignment: The error message appeared in monospace text.
