Times New Roman

Classic document font

Times New Roman is a serif typeface designed for the Times of London newspaper in 1931, now among the most widely used fonts in the world.

Its association with newspapers, academic papers, and official documents gives it a conservative, authoritative feel.

For decades it was the default font in Microsoft Word, making it the unmarked choice for formal writing: The professor required all papers in Times New Roman, 12-point.
