monocle
Single eye glass
A monocle is a single lens worn in front of one eye, held in place by the muscles around the eye socket.
Once a fashionable accessory among wealthy men in the 19th and early 20th centuries, it now appears mainly as a costume piece or visual shorthand for aristocratic pretension: He adjusted his monocle and sniffed disapprovingly.
