reflector
Surface returning light
A reflector is a surface or device that bounces back light, heat, sound, or other waves.
The term most often describes mirrors or shiny surfaces used to redirect light, as in vehicle reflectors that make cyclists visible at night, or reflectors placed behind lamps to direct illumination.
In photography and film, reflectors bounce light onto subjects to reduce shadows.
Telescopes that use mirrors rather than lenses are called reflectors or reflecting telescopes.
