diopter
Lens power measurement
A diopter is a unit of measurement for the optical power of a lens or curved mirror, equal to the reciprocal of the focal length in meters.
Eyeglass and contact lens prescriptions are expressed in diopters, with positive values for farsightedness and negative for nearsightedness.
My prescription is minus three diopters in each eye.
In photography and optics, a diopter is also a supplementary lens attached to a camera or other optical device to allow closer focusing.
