fascia
Muscle's connective wrapping
Fascia has meanings that come together under the idea of a flat band or layer.
In architecture, it's a horizontal board covering the ends of roof rafters or running beneath eaves.
In anatomy, fascia is the thin sheath of connective tissue surrounding muscles and organs: The surgeon cut through the fascia to access the kidney.
British usage includes the dashboard of a car and the signboard above a shopfront.
