Driver's information display
A dashboard is the panel in a vehicle facing the driver, containing instruments and controls—speedometer, fuel gauge, warning lights.
The term originally named a board at the front of a horse-drawn carriage that prevented mud from being dashed onto passengers.
By extension, a dashboard is any display presenting key information at a glance: The analytics dashboard shows real-time sales data.
