dado
Lower wall section
A dado is a horizontal band of decoration or different material on the lower part of an interior wall, typically running at about waist height.
In woodworking, a dado is a groove cut across the grain of a board, into which another piece fits: The shelves slide into dadoes cut in the side panels.
In architecture, the dado is the section of a pedestal between the base and the cap.
