wall
Vertical interior partition
A wall is a vertical structure in which length is usually the greatest dimension, thickness the least, and height usually intermediate.
Walls typically separate one thing from another: room from room, indoors from outdoors, yard from street or moat from castle.
Natural or naturally occurring things that have wall characteristics get the same name: a wall of water.
Something that presents a seemingly insurmountable obstacle can be called a wall: a wall of silence.
In verbal use, wall is usually followed by a particle to describe how something is separated by the use of a wall: wall off the garden, wall in the prisoners.
