foam rolling
Cylindrical self-massage technique
Foam rolling is a self-massage technique using a cylindrical foam roller to apply pressure to muscles and soft tissue.
The practice aims to release muscle tightness, improve flexibility, and aid recovery after exercise: I spend ten minutes foam rolling after every workout.
Also called self-myofascial release in fitness contexts.
