Capitol Hill representative
A congressperson is a member of a congress, especially the United States Congress.
The term emerged as a gender-neutral alternative to congressman, avoiding the need to specify congressman or congresswoman: Your congressperson represents you in Washington.
It remains less common than the gendered forms but appears frequently in formal and journalistic contexts.
