despotism
One-person total control
Despotism is absolute power exercised by a single ruler, or the system of government in which such power exists.
The term implies tyranny—authority unchecked by law, constitution, or consent of the governed: The revolution overthrew centuries of despotism.
By extension, despotism describes any oppressive control: the petty despotism of middle management.
