parliamentarian
Legislative procedure authority
A parliamentarian is an expert in parliamentary procedure—the formal rules governing legislative bodies and deliberative assemblies.
Organizations from Congress to local clubs may consult a parliamentarian to resolve procedural disputes: The chair deferred to the parliamentarian on whether the motion was in order.
In British usage, a parliamentarian is simply a member of Parliament.
