spokesperson

Organization's public voice

A spokesperson is someone who speaks officially on behalf of a group, organization, or cause.

The term emerged as a gender-neutral alternative to spokesman and spokeswoman: The company spokesperson declined to comment.

Unlike representative or delegate, a spokesperson's role is specifically communicative—conveying positions rather than negotiating them.
