cysts

Abnormal tissue sacs

Cysts are abnormal sac-like structures in the body, typically filled with fluid, air, or semi-solid material.

They can form in virtually any tissue—skin, ovaries, kidneys, liver—and range from harmless to requiring medical intervention.

Most cysts are benign: The ultrasound revealed several small cysts on her ovary.

Some resolve on their own; others need drainage or surgical removal.
