noncancerous
Harmless growth type
Noncancerous describes a growth, tumor, or tissue that is not malignant—it won't spread to other parts of the body or invade surrounding tissue.
Doctors use the term to reassure patients after biopsies: The lump turned out to be noncancerous.
Benign is the more technical synonym.
