adenomas

Benign glandular tumors

Adenomas are benign tumors that form in glandular tissue—the type of tissue that secretes substances like hormones or mucus.

They commonly develop in the colon, thyroid, pituitary gland, or adrenal glands.

Though noncancerous, some adenomas can grow large enough to cause problems or, in certain locations, may eventually become malignant.

Singular: adenoma.
