chamfer
Corner-softening cut
A chamfer is a beveled edge—a flat surface cut at an angle where two surfaces meet, typically at 45 degrees.
Woodworkers and machinists chamfer edges to remove sharpness, ease assembly, or add a finished look: The carpenter chamfered the corners of the tabletop.
Distinguished from a rounded edge, which curves rather than angles.
