polyline

Chain of lines

A polyline is a continuous line composed of connected straight segments.

The term appears primarily in computer graphics, CAD software, and geographic information systems, where complex shapes are built from sequences of points joined by line segments: The map shows hiking trails as polylines.

Unlike a polygon, a polyline doesn't close to form a shape.
