chamfers

Cut corner surfaces

Chamfers are beveled edges or corners—surfaces cut at an angle where two faces meet.

The term appears most often in woodworking, metalworking, and engineering, where sharp 90-degree edges are cut back to create a flat angled surface: The carpenter added chamfers to soften the table's edges.

Chamfer differs from a rounded edge, which curves rather than angles.
