Magellan
Ferdinand Magellan was a Portuguese explorer who led the first expedition to circumnavigate the globe in the early sixteenth century, though he died before completing the voyage.
His name attaches to features he encountered: the Strait of Magellan at South America's tip, the Magellanic Clouds visible in southern skies.
The Magellan spacecraft mapped Venus in the 1990s.
