Floating maritime academy
A training ship is a vessel used for teaching seamanship and naval skills.
Navies use them to train cadets in navigation, sail handling, and shipboard operations before assignment to active duty vessels.
Some are tall ships preserved for this purpose: The Coast Guard's training ship Eagle is a three-masted barque.
Civilian maritime academies also operate training ships for merchant marine education.
