World Trade Center
Manhattan's former twins
The World Trade Center was a complex of buildings in Lower Manhattan, New York City, dominated by twin 110-story towers completed in 1973.
The towers were destroyed in the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, killing nearly 3,000 people.
The site, often called Ground Zero, now houses the National September 11 Memorial and One World Trade Center, the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere.
