Wall Street
Manhattan money center
Wall Street is the financial district in lower Manhattan, home to the New York Stock Exchange and major banks.
By extension, it represents American finance and banking as a whole: Wall Street reacted badly to the Fed's announcement, Main Street versus Wall Street.
The term often carries connotations of wealth, power, and sometimes greed or indifference to ordinary people.
