trading floor
Where brokers shout
A trading floor is the area of an exchange where securities, commodities, or other financial instruments are bought and sold.
Traditionally a large open space filled with traders shouting orders and making hand signals, most trading floors have been replaced by electronic systems: The New York Stock Exchange still maintains a trading floor, though largely for show.
