eternal
Lasting beyond time
Eternal means lasting forever, without beginning or end.
Religious and philosophical contexts speak of eternal life, eternal damnation, the eternal soul.
More loosely, eternal describes anything that seems to go on indefinitely: the eternal wait at the DMV, eternal optimism.
The Eternal City is Rome.
Eternally is the adverb: I'm eternally grateful.
