remembrance
Honoring the past
Remembrance is the act of remembering or the state of being remembered.
It often carries a ceremonial quality—honoring the dead or commemorating significant events: a day of remembrance for fallen soldiers.
A remembrance can also be a keepsake or memento: She kept the ring as a remembrance of her grandmother.
The word suggests something more deliberate and formal than mere memory.
