brokerage
Deal-facilitating business
Brokerage is the business of acting as an intermediary in transactions, especially financial ones.
A brokerage firm connects buyers and sellers of stocks, real estate, or insurance, earning fees or commissions for arranging deals.
The word also refers to those fees themselves: The brokerage on the sale was three percent.
In casual use, brokerage often means simply a firm where you hold investment accounts.
