Spanish Empire

New World colonizer

The Spanish Empire was the global colonial dominion held by Spain from the late 15th century through the early 19th century, encompassing much of the Americas, the Philippines, parts of Africa, and European territories.

At its height, it was one of the largest empires in history.

The Spanish Empire brought Catholicism and the Spanish language to Latin America.

The empire's decline accelerated after Napoleon's invasion of Spain and subsequent Latin American independence movements.
