royal
Fit for sovereigns
Royal means of or relating to a king or queen: the royal family, royal decree, royal palace.
By extension, royal describes anything magnificent or fit for royalty: a royal welcome, royal treatment.
It also intensifies certain nouns: a royal mess, a royal pain.
In Britain, the Royals are members of the royal family.
A royal is also a paper size (20 × 25 inches) and a sail above the topgallant. (Capitalized Royal appears in proper names of institutions and military units.)
