King Solomon
Temple-building Israelite
King Solomon was an ancient Israelite king, son of David, renowned in biblical tradition for extraordinary wisdom.
When God offered him anything, Solomon asked for wisdom to govern well—a choice that became proverbial.
The wisdom of Solomon refers to exceptional judgment, especially in difficult disputes.
His judgment between two women claiming the same baby (a Solomonic decision) exemplifies cutting through deception to find truth.
Solomon also built the First Temple in Jerusalem and reportedly authored Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, and Song of Songs.
