sage
Wise or aromatic
Sage is an aromatic herb with grayish-green leaves, commonly used in cooking—particularly with poultry and in stuffing.
The plant's muted color gives us sage green.
Separately, a sage is a person of profound wisdom, and as an adjective, sage means wise: sage advice, a sage observation.
The two words share no origin but have coexisted in English for centuries. (Capitalized Sage is a given name.)
