Song of Songs

Biblical love poetry

Song of Songs is a book of the Hebrew Bible and Christian Old Testament, also called the Song of Solomon.

It consists of erotic love poetry exchanged between two lovers, celebrating desire and physical beauty: Your lips are like a scarlet ribbon.

Jewish and Christian traditions have often interpreted it allegorically—as God's love for Israel or Christ's love for the Church—though many scholars read it as straightforward celebration of human passion.
