Mount Zion
Sacred Jerusalem peak
Mount Zion is a hill in Jerusalem, historically associated with the City of David and later with the site of the Last Supper.
In Jewish and Christian tradition, it carries deep symbolic weight—representing God's dwelling place, the promised homeland, or heavenly Jerusalem.
The term appears in spirituals and hymns as a destination of hope and deliverance: We're marching to Zion.
Rastafarian usage draws on this imagery, contrasting Zion (Africa, righteousness) with Babylon (oppression).
