Covenant

Divine promise, capitalized

Covenant with a capital C typically refers to a specific historical or religious agreement treated as a proper noun.

In Scottish history, the National Covenant (1638) and Solemn League and Covenant (1643) were Protestant declarations against royal religious interference; signatories were called Covenanters.

In theology, Covenant often designates the central agreement between God and Israel, or the New Covenant through Christ. (Lowercase covenant is any solemn agreement.)
