whalers
Blubber industry workers
Whalers are people who hunt whales, or the ships they use to do so.
Commercial whaling was once a major industry, providing oil for lamps and lubricants, bone for corsets, and meat.
The whalers set out from Nantucket in pursuit of sperm whales.
Most countries have banned whaling, making the term largely historical.
