prey
What stalkers seek
Prey is an animal hunted and killed by another for food: The owl swooped down on its prey.
By extension, prey includes anyone vulnerable to exploitation or attack: con artists and their prey.
To prey on something is to hunt it, exploit it, or weigh heavily on it: The scandal preyed on his mind.
A predator is one who preys; prey is what gets preyed upon.
