apothecary
Old-time druggist
An apothecary is a person who prepares and sells medicines—the historical predecessor of the modern pharmacist.
The term also refers to the shop where such preparations were made and sold: The village apothecary stocked herbs and tinctures.
The word now appears mainly in historical contexts or to evoke old-fashioned charm, as in boutique shops styled as apothecaries selling soaps, candles, or remedies.
