blue whale
Largest living animal
A blue whale is the largest animal known to have existed, a marine mammal reaching lengths over 100 feet and weights exceeding 150 tons.
Despite their size, blue whales feed almost exclusively on tiny krill, filtering enormous quantities through baleen plates.
They are found in oceans worldwide but remain endangered after near-extinction from whaling.
