Inuit

Northern indigenous group

Inuit refers to the Indigenous peoples of the Arctic regions of Canada, Greenland, and Alaska, or a member of these peoples.

The word is also the name of their language family.

Inuit is the preferred term in Canada and Greenland, having largely replaced Eskimo, which many consider offensive.

The singular is Inuk, though Inuit often serves for both.

Inuit communities have lived in the Arctic for thousands of years.
