farrier
Equine foot professional
A farrier is a craftsperson who trims and shoes horses' hooves.
The work combines blacksmithing skills—forging and fitting metal horseshoes—with knowledge of equine anatomy and hoof care.
Though less common since horses gave way to motorized transport, farriers remain essential for working horses, police mounts, and competitive equestrian animals.
The farrier comes every six weeks to check the horses' feet.
