Queequeg

Queequeg is a fictional character in Herman Melville's novel *Moby-Dick*—a Polynesian harpooner covered in tattoos who becomes the narrator Ishmael's close friend.

The name occasionally appears as an allusion to exotic otherness, unlikely friendship, or the noble outsider: They were like Ishmael and Queequeg, an odd pair bound by circumstance.
